JUST DANDY

Just Dandy is a business proposal for a prospective Service Design company with a prominent pro-bono component. The company's aim is to create a sustainable business plan that allows half of our time and effort to be given away for free to small enterprises and charities in the Dundee area.

The business model is heavily inspired by the New York based company 'Very Nice' and it's corresponding book 'How to Give Half of Your Work Away for Free'. this acted as a motivational springboard, proving that a business model of this nature is not only viable but can be made into a profitable enterprise.

Community interest company.

With the newly achieved status of 'UNESCO City of Design' Dundee is likely to attract a flurry of businesses to the area. Just Dandy offers services to established businesses as well as conducting work on a pro-bono basis within the less affluent areas of the city.

Our goal is to help redistribute this newfound capital into the wider economy, helping to close the societal gap by using profits and external funding.

The services offered would help established businesses by introducing new methods of problem solving. Invoking the use of design thinking to improve productivity by re-constructing the mechanics of the implemented echelon structure.

For smaller businesses and charities the implementation of service design thinking would improve levels of exposure with the overall goal of helping them gain funding and prominence within the community.

This business proposal was created as a collaboration with a fellow student and was presented as our final year dissertation.

Just Dandy was implemented though work with Along Came Kirsty and Open Change.
